Cédric Thériault est un guitariste classique reconnu pour sa polyvalence et sa musicalité à travers le Canada. Ce jeune musicien cherche constamment à élever son instrument en explorant de nouveaux répertoires et en innovant dans la présentation de ses concerts.Durant son parcours dans les Maritimes, Cédric a participé à de nombreux festivals et concours, remportant notamment le premier prix dans la catégorie Artiste émergent – guitare classique au Festival national de musique du Canada en 2021 et 2022. Il a aussi obtenu une mention honorable au Festival de guitare d’Athènes,en Grèce, ainsi qu’une médaille d’argent au Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition en 2022.
Parmi ses autres distinctions, notons sa nomination parmi les 30 musiciens de musique classique de moins de 30 ans au Canada par CBC en 2022. Il se retrouve aussi sur la liste des 30 jeunes francophones de moins de 30 ans à surveiller de l’Acadie Nouvelle en 2023, et il a obtenu le prestigieux certificat Pascal-Poirier de l’Université de Moncton, décerné aux diplômés ayant maintenu une excellente moyenne académique tout en se distinguant par leur engagement parascolaire.
Depuis 2018, Cédric a participé à de nombreux événements musicaux dans des contextes artistiques variés. Parmi ses engagements marquants figurent le Baker Lake Chamber Music Festival en 2022, où il s’est produit comme compositeur et interprète, ainsi que le Barachois Summer Music Festival en 2021 et 2022. En 2023, il a donné un récital solo au Festival Acadien de Caraquet et s’est produit dans la série Noon at Met à la Metropolitan United Church de Toronto en 2024 et 2026. À l’Université de Toronto, il a collaboré avec le guitariste et compositeur Celso Machado lors de concerts présentés pendant sa résidence à la Faculté de musique, et a participé en 2024 à la production de l’opéra Three Islands en tant que membre de l’orchestre. En mars 2025, il a également pris part au concert Vocalis, organisé par Liz Upchurch. Grâce à sa polyvalence et à sa sensibilité artistique, Cédric est régulièrement invité à collaborer avec d’autres musiciens, ensembles et créateurs sur des projets allant du récital solo à la musique de chambre et aux productions interdisciplinaires.
Il a également pris part à plusieurs programmes intensifs et résidences musicales, notamment au Domaine
Forget en 2023 et à MusicAlps en 2024, soutenu par la bourse Laetitia-Cyr et le Experience France Award. Depuis 2021, il fut invité à de nombreuses résidences artistiques de Musique sur Mer en Acadie.
Son parcours académique comprend un baccalauréat en interprétation de la guitare classique obtenu en
2023 auprès de Michel Cardin à l’Université de Moncton, ainsi qu’une maitrise en interprétation obtenue à l’Université de Toronto en 2025, où il a étudié sous la tutelle de Jorge Caballero. Il poursuit son doctorat en interprétation (DMA) à la même université avec Jeffrey McFadden, où il compte approfondir sa pratique de l’improvisation.

Cédric Thériault is a classical guitarist renowned across Canada for his versatility and musicality. This young musician constantly seeks to elevate his artistry by exploring new repertoires and innovating in the presentation of his concerts. During his career in the Maritimes, Cédric has participated in numerous festivals and competitions, notably winning first prize in the Emerging Artist – Classical Guitar category at the Canadian National Music Festival in 2021 and 2022. He also received an honorable mention at the Athens Guitar Festival in Greece, as well as a silver medal at the Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition in 2022.
Among his other accolades is his selection by CBC in 2022 as one of Canada’s 30 classical musicians under 30. He also appears on L’Acadie Nouvelle’s list of 30 young Francophones under 30 to watch in 2023, and he received the prestigious Pascal-Poirier Certificate from the University of Moncton, awarded to graduates who have maintained an excellent academic average while distinguishing themselves through their extracurricular involvement.
Since 2018, Cédric has participated in numerous musical events across a variety of artistic settings. Among his notable engagements are the Baker Lake Chamber Music Festival in 2022, where he performed as both a composer and performer, as well as the Barachois Summer Music Festival in 2021 and 2022. In 2023, he gave a solo recital at the Festival Acadien de Caraquet and performed in the Noon at Met series at the Metropolitan United Church in Toronto in 2024 and 2026. At the University of Toronto, he collaborated with guitarist and composer Celso Machado on concerts presented during his residency at the Faculty of Music, and in 2024 participated in the production of the opera Three Islands as a member of the orchestra. In March 2025, he also took part in the Vocalis concert, organized by Liz Upchurch. Thanks to his versatility and artistic sensitivity, Cédric is regularly invited to collaborate with other musicians, ensembles, and creators on projects ranging from solo recitals to chamber music and interdisciplinary productions.
He has also participated in several intensive programs and music residencies, notably at Domaine Forget in 2023 and MusicAlps in 2024, supported by the Laetitia-Cyr Scholarship and the Experience France Award. Since 2021, he has been invited to numerous artistic residencies with Musique sur Mer en Acadie.
His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in classical guitar performance earned in 2023 under Michel Cardin at the University of Moncton, as well as a Master’s degree in performance earned at the University of Toronto in 2025, where he studied under Jorge Caballero. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in performance at the same university with Jeffrey McFadden, where he plans to further develop his practice of improvisation.
